I am currently in my final year in college studying furniture & wood technology at the Galway Mayo Institute of Technology. As part of this course, I have studied a range of subjects from manufacturing technology and applied science, to furniture history and design process, and graphics and computer applications Operations management.
I was also chosen with a few other students to enter the national skills competition preliminary stage in joinery. I did not make it to the next stage but it was brilliant experience anyway.
I have always had a keen interest in woodworking from a young age as my father is a cabinet maker. I started working with him while I was still in primary school on the weekends and during holidays. At first just doing some basic tasks but this developed as I got older and he started giving me more complicated projects to do.
